„How did you guys come up with the idea for a JCI European Conference on a cruise ship?“
We were on the way to our first European Conference, 2016 in Tampere. We went by car and stopped in Stockholm, where we were warmly welcomed by local JCI members who guided us through their city. The next day on the ferry to Finland we met many more JCI members and the idea began to take off… why not try to connect people and nations by boat? To set a sign for a united Europe? Next year this will finally happen and our insane idea will become reality!

„What has been the greatest challenge so far?“
There has often been the approach to hold a conference on a ship. At the early planning stage the incredible financial challenges appear and make you almost reconsider everything! We did not stop at this point, but developed ideas how to finance and secure such a project. Due to great teamwork, our amazing network and good contacts we succeeded and we submitted our bid!

„That all sounds like a lot of work, but let me take a guess: COVID-19 / Corona probably didn’t make things easier?“
No, certainly not. We have learned a lot since the beginning of the year and had to make countless decisions and react to current issues. For example, it was not planned that we would handle all bookings personally and generate the invoices manually. But this is the only way we can respond to the many individual requests and wishes of our fellow JCI members. And despite many obstacles, we are convinced that our conference can – and will – take place next year. Certainly we will have to observe and implement numerous regulations, but with AIDA Cruises we have the perfect partner on board. Together with their parent company Carnval Cruise Lines and the entire cruise industry they have been working on how to make cruises safe again. PCR-testing for everybody will be an important part of their revised Health Regulations.

„Let’s just assume for a moment somebody joined JCI recently and has never heard about 2021 JCI European Conference Cruise before: What should they know and why should they register today?“
Due to the current situation, our conference will be the first one in almost two years. And it will probably not take place like this ever again: Our delegates will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a conference over 5 days in 4 countries and in 4 different cities! And all this at very attractive pricing, which already includes the conference fee, accommodation on board, 5 meals per day and various drinks.
It is important to know that the number of participants is limited: we have only 1,000 cabins on board and already more than half of the balcony cabins are booked! So the earlier you register, the safer you will be on board with us next year!

„Is there anything else JCI members all over the world should know?“
Well, you can find all important information on our website and on our social media channels like facebook and Instagram. If you have any questions or if you want to get involved actively, please use the chance to get in touch with us. Either by email, via facebook, Instagram or the chat on our website. We are looking forward to hearing from you and hope to welcome you all on board next year!
