Coronavirus / COVID-19 (4)

2021 JCI European Conference on a cruise ship always was a challenge, even without a pandemic. And COVID-19 is posing the greatest challenge so far. For a long time to come planning events will include an increased amount of uncertainty. As of right now we believe that current developments in Germany and in most European Countries indicate, that 2021 JCI European conference can take place as planned. Although this pandemic is far from over, the number of new infections in most European Countries is considerably lower than at its peak and further decreasing. We sincerely hope this trend continues, but it could also change. To use a famous quote: “It is difficult to make predictions, especially about the future!”

To be fair and honest, probably not. Although high sanitary standards like using hand sanitizer have been strictly enforces on cruise ships for many years, the cruise industry is working very hard to ensure everybody’s health and safety on board. We will be setting sail in June 2021, so it’s a little bit early to speculate about specific details. Maybe not every new regulation will be something we had wished for – but this will be similar at every conference conducted responsibly in 2021 regardless of the venue.

Yes, we do! Since we are presently confident that we can realize everything as planned, we feel right now is not the time to discuss them publicly. Should the need arise, we will try as hard as we can to negotiate a solution with all stakeholders. As soon as valid facts have been established, we will share our knowledge with you as soon as practical. We feel that’s way better than spreading rumors and communicating uncertainties.

Every 2021 JCI European Conference Cruise registration includes a €350.- conference fee, split up in a €100.- fee for the organization and a €250.- fee for the execution of the conference. In case of a presently unlikely cancellation we reserve the right to keep the €100.- fee for organizing the conference. This money will be used for expenses occurred. All other funds will be returned to you. We think it’s just fair to let you know beforehand about those details, it eliminates the guesswork on your side. Without a small amount to keep in cases of disaster, it might become difficult or impossible to organize and plan conferences in the future. By the way: If a new date will be set, please try to attend!
